Is Bitcoin the Force?
Is Bitcoin the Force?
It’s energy.
The Force is an invisible energy field that’s created by all living things. It surrounds us and binds the galaxy together. The Force is what gives a Jedi his or her power. A Jedi can tap into this energy at any time.
Bitcoin is also an invisible energy field. It’s digital energy. This energy creates and secures the Bitcoin network. It binds us together. The network is what gives a Bitcoiner his or her power - the power to store their wealth across time and space and reach financial sovereignty.
With an internet connection, anyone can tap into the power of this network anywhere in the world at any time. They tap into this network by sending or receiving a payment, running a node, or contributing energy by mining bitcoin. They can store their energy (or wealth or time) in this energy field.
“The Force is strong with this one.” -Darth Vader
The more one trains in the ways of the Force, the more knowledge they gain, the more they can yield its power and hone their skills. Events in the past, present, and future become more clear. They can see things before they happen.
The more one trains in understanding Bitcoin and the history of money, the more powerful and enlightened they will become. Past, present, and future events become more clear. They can see the game theory play out. They train themselves to see the signal through the noise.
“You must unlearn what you have learned.” -Yoda
“If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
When someone dies, they become part of the Force, or a badass Force ghost that will continue to train jedi.
When someone “strikes-down” or attempts to ban the Bitcoin network, it becomes more powerful. A good example of a strike-down was the China mining ban last summer. The network lost close to 50% of its hash power.
However, the miners were able to pick up and move to a more mining friendly jurisdiction. Most of the hash power migrated to the US and we’ve reached all-time highs again. There are also underground miners that continue to mine in China.
Countries have attempted to ban Bitcoin and failed. They then almost immediately un-ban Bitcoin realizing it’s out of their control. It’s decentralized. You try to strike it down, it will become more powerful.
The Balance.
“That Force Does Not Belong To The Jedi. To Say That If The Jedi Die, The Light Dies, Is Vanity.” – Luke Skywalker
The Force is neutral.
Bitcoin is a technology. It’s neutral. It’s a tool that can be used for good or bad, the light side or the dark side.
Every new technology from the internet, to pagers, to cell phones were popular among criminals first before becoming mainstream. Bitcoin’s perception also seemed to follow this path.
This aside, Bitcoin does level the monetary playing field and puts the power back in the people’s hands. It’s a more fair system that no one can manipulate.
Bitcoin could demonetize war. It’s a fixed 21 million supply and no one can print more of it. It forces governments to be more responsible and not spend money they do not have.
It allows people to retain their wealth without a central authority inflating it away. It allows people to become their own bank. It’s a permissionless network that no one controls. I think Bitcoin will bring exponential benefits to the world and is one of the greatest inventions in human history.
It’s also a public ledger. Want to use money to commit a crime? Use fiat.
Over 90% of US paper bills have traces of cocaine on them. 2 trillion US dollars were used for money laundering in 2021. That’s more than double the entire bitcoin market cap. Only 0.15% of cryptocurrency transactions were used for illicit activities (in the entire “crypto” ecosystem not just bitcoin).
It’s important to have a deep understanding of how our current financial system works in order to understand all the problems Bitcoin solves. I haven’t met anyone that has put in the work to deeply understand money that is against Bitcoin.
"You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view" — Obi-Wan Kenobi
Studying the force is a life-long commitment for a Jedi - kind of like the Bitcoin rabbit hole. I’m not sure it ever ends. There’s always a new aspect of Bitcoin to master from economics, math, computer science, game theory, philosophy, physics, and history.
Also, shitcoins only work on the weak-minded.
For my ally is Bitcoin. And a powerful ally it is. -Yoda
